A Day in My Life Living in Spain

Today I’m going to run you through a Monday in my life living in Spain and teaching English in a small town outside of Madrid called Nuevo Baztan.

6:33 am, I finally wake up after snoozing my alarm 3 times (one at 6:12, 6:23, and 6:30. Don’t ask me why I do this, I don’t know either)

6:52 am, I leave home to catch the bus under my apartment by 6:55 am

7:02 am, catch my first train, linea 10, and ride this train for about 15-20 minutes. Some days it’s super packed and crowded and some days it’s very quiet and enjoyable. I’m sure you can guess which one I prefer.

7:26 am, here I switch trains from linea 10 to linea 7 and ride it for one stop

7:35 am, arrive at a huge bus station called Avenida De America

7:45 am, bus takes off

9:09 am, bus arrives at school. I immediately go to first class which is 4th Grade (B classroom) English

9:45 am, my one high school class I have. I’m still figuring out the high school grades/ classes but these kids are 16/17 years old

10:30 am, I head to 4th Grade (A classroom) to teach English

11:15 am, I head to 2nd Grade (B classroom) to teach English

12 pm, I head to the teacher break room where we get coffee, food & sweets. I get to socialize with all the teachers! The food is usually toast with olive oil & salt, sometimes we get tortilla, sometimes this tuna spread with toast, & sometimes we get mini pizzas aka toast with marinara sauce & some melted cheese (these are my fav!!)

12:30 pm, I head to 4th Grade (B classroom) to teach Social Sciences in English which is basically Social Studies

1:15 pm, I head to 2nd Grade (A classroom) to teach English

2 pm, done for the day! Me & the 2 other Auxes (english teachers who are also american) at my school walk to the bus stop together

2:15 pm, the bus picks us up

3:30 pm, bus drops us off at Avenida de America

4:15 pm, take 2 trains after the bus & I am finally home

5 pm, I usually make a snack or food. Depends on the day how hungry I am

7 pm, I’ve been loving yoga & try to go as much as I can. If I go on Mondays it’s usually the 7 pm class.

8:45 pm, I make dinner or heat up leftovers. I love making my own dinners during the week. I look forward to it so much!! My go-tos have been marinara sauce with pasta and ground turkey and this spicy pre-marinated chicken with rice and lots of veggies.

10 pm, Shower, read or watch my show, pack my bag for the next day and have some me time in my room

11 pm, Alarm set, phone charging, lights out!
